I’ll be totally honest with you, For a long time I was pretty convinced I wouldn’t finish this year. But somehow I pulled some much needed inspiration out of my hat the last day and managed to hit 50000 words with 3 hours to spare.
This was what my last week looked like in numbers:
Day 22: 3176 words
Day 23: 617 words
Day 24: 1500 words
Day 25: 1363 words
Day 26: 1113 words
Day 27: 196 words
Day 28: 858 words
Day 29: 526 words
Day 30: 7251 words
Total for the last week: 16600 words
Total overall: 50115 words
Total consumption of tea the last week: 2 cups
This year turned out to be a real struggle! Which is something totally new to me when it comes to nanowrimo. Usually I have no problem getting words down on paper and my biggest problem is that I include stuff that doesn’t matter to the story and I have to cut later. And I know, that’s a luxury problem.
This year though, I found myself many times just starring at my blinking marker and I had to will myself to actually put my fingers to the keys and just write something. Anything.
The reasons for my struggle are many. Increased workload in the middle of the month, new genre, my main character was in an age I’ve never written before, redecorating my home and probably other stuff as well.
However, while I’m not very happy with the story I’ve written there’s still stuff I’m proud of when it’s all said and done.
- I managed to hit 50000 words! Yay!
- I beat my last record of most words written in a day (Old: 6700 New: 7251)
- I wrote every single day
- I tried a new genre
- I finished my story
I hope everyone else who participated in nanowrimo did good and are happy with their result. And even if you didn’t managed to hit 50000 words you are still a winner. I consider everyone who participate in nanowrimo to be winners!
Until next year all my nanowrimo enthusiasts!
