You know how you sometimes end up on youtube and get stuck for hours? That’s what happen to me the other day and I think I watched every single video of the Unpopular Opinions Book Tag so I decided to do it too. So here are my answers!
- A popular book or series you didn’t like?
– Passanger by Alexandra Bracken
Both of these books have gotten so much praise from varies book lovers and I can see the appeal but they just wasn’t for me. In both cases I found the stories too slow paced. However, I will try to finish both series within this year because I have a hard time dealing with unfinished business.
- A popular book or series everyone else seems to hate but you love?
–Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
I get what people say when they criticizes this series for the tropes and overdone themes but I still love the story and the character. I’m currently reading the 3rd book (King’s Cage) and while the first book has been supremely better the other two books have still entertained me greatly.
- A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you didn’t want the to end up with (SPOILERS!!!!!)?
-Katniss and Peeta from The Hunger Games Trilogy by Susanne Collins
In my opinion I thought Katniss shouldn’t have ended up with any of the love interests in the book. It’s not like I wanted her to end up all alone with her demons but to me her relationship with Peeta was always too unbalanced. It’s okay for characters to find their happily-ever-after-love-interest after the age of 18 in some cases.
- A popular book genre you hardly reach for?
There’s not much explanation to be done here. I have no interest in reading Erotica, it’s as simple as that.
- A popular or beloved character you don’t like?
-Sirius Black and James Potter from the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
They were bullies. That’s it. I don’t care if they were “young and stupid”. That scene in The Order of the Pheonix they are 15/16 years old and there is nothing that can excuse that kind of behavior. And I can’t phantom how they could be popular if they acted that way towards their classmates. Just No.
- A popular author you can’t seem to get into?
I’ve read the first two books in the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and I had to force myself to do it. I still plan on reading the last one, actually I have already started it and got a few pages in before I decided to pick up an other book. So we’ll see when I get back to that one. Within the year is the plan.
- A popular book trope you’re tired of seeing?
Don’t give me wrong, I love my women. What up girls? But every single book doesn’t have to be told from a female point of view. And to be completely honest. I read predominately YA and the majority of authors within YA is women so it makes sense. But I still find it exhaustingly one-sided.
- A popular series you have no interest in reading?
-Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
-A song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) by George R.R. Martin
I’m just not interested in reading about vampires and I can’t see that changing anytime soon. And a song of ice and fire is a big commitment that I’m not ready for at the moment.
- The saying goes “the book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or tv-show adaption do you prefer more than the book?
-Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
I’ll be completely honest, I’ve only read two books in the trilogy but that was enough for me. There is a big possibility I was too young when I read them (15) but after watching the movies I’ve gotten a better appreciation for the story. I thought the books contained too much description for my taste and I prefer the visually beautiful movies in their place.
